Theft deterrent?

Stop, thief!

theft deterrent
Bag tag and polite admonishment

All you have to do is ask.

Rather, tell the thief: “Stop. I’m not yours.”

Cute. This method hadn’t occurred to me as a theft deterrent. I wouldn’t count on it working.

I saw this admonishment while boarding a plane in Oslo. The man was Norwegian. Maybe this sort of theft deterrent works in Norway. Maybe only against Norwegian thieves. Maybe only against polite Norwegian thieves.

  1. It’s amusing to me, Dianne, even on checked bags. I imagine the luggage thief at the carousel seeing it and thinking “oh, right, I won’t take that bag.”

Really though—I think it’s just meant to be an identifier for the bag owner, to help him recognize his own bag. And in that case, it is silly to put on cabin baggage.

  2. This tag is meant to go on checked luggage to deter bag switching at airport luggage carousels. I find it amusing to see it on cabin baggage.
