Where are you off to, J? Different locations call for different levels of caution. Also, how much do you want to pay attention to your things? Maybe you're the type who'd feel best with a slim waste pouch worn under your clothes, with a little cash handy in your pocket. Bob and I really like the kind of pouch that hangs from your belt on a loop, and is concealed under your pants. You just flip it out when you need its contents. Pickpocket-proof!

Not sure if a rubber band will help prevent pick pocketing, but a Bandit Wallet http://www.banditwallet.com will do a better job than a rubber band in wrapping that wallet up...

You have always said a flat bag for money, cards, and passport worn under clothing is the safest way to go. Like those who refuse to wear seat belts, the rigid minds of pocket stuffers cannot be changed. Perhaps it takes a theft to move a victim to new habits.
